Shilin Night Market
This MRT station is about 10 minutes away (walking) from Shilin MRT, but is closer to Shilin Night Market.

Shilin Night Market is the largest night market in Taipei with over 500 stalls, and over a million visitors on weekends making it a central point of Taiwan's night life. The most popular food item from Shilin is JiPai, a flat piece of fried chicken bigger than your head!

Taipei Children's Amusement Park
During the day, however, this is also a worthwhile stop since you can go from here or from Shilin MRT to the Taipei Children's amusement park. Each ride is less than 50 NTD, but there tends to be a long queue.

There are also many busses around this MRT stop taking you to Yangming Shan, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Palace Museum, and Taipei Astonomical Museum.
And if you don't mind the walk, you can go up the stairs of Ming Chuan University for a night view of the city or catch a bus to Chinese Culture University which has one of the best night views of Taipei.
