Ximen Red House
The Red Theatre is an ancient landmark of Ximen on Chengdou Rd with a history of almost a century old. It is a 2-storey octagonal architecture comprised of red tiles and bricks, and on the inside the roof is supported by a skeleton of metal bones in a shape of an umbrella. Started off as a public market place, the Red Theatre had evolved throughout decades to become the multi-functional building of today. From a performing arts centre to a movie cinema, the Red Theatre had always been the favourite entertainment site for Taiwanese people. Every other weekend, there will be a flea market outside of the building.
Ximending
Located in west Taipei, Ximending is one of the most popular tourist spots among both local and international travelers. Ximending features a wide selection of fashionable clothing and accessories in many styles include Japanese, Chinese and Western. Ximending is similar to Shibuya in Japan, both are famed for a diversity of entertainments and activities that allure large numbers of young people and young adults. It is often a gathering site for young people and has been noted the most fashionable and popular shopping area in Taiwan.
