Shilin on a Budget

Start your day off with a trip to the Taipei Fine arts museum – Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 to 17:30 (closed on Mondays)

There is free entry on Saturdays from 17:30 to 20:30, so this is a great time to visit if you are really stretching your dollar. The museum is two minutes away from the Yuan Shan MRT and is Taipei's first fine arts museum.

After touring the museum, take a bike a ride along the Yuan Shan park bike trail and then to the Shilin MRT. Here you can explore the cultural wonder that is the Shilin Night Market – The biggest and most popular night market in Taipei.

Shop, explore and, most of all, get a taste of Taiwan, in the endless variety of local foods, from stinky tofu to dumplings.
