Tamsui is for Lovers

Taipei has many activities to offer that are tinged with a romantic atmosphere, and depending what time of the year you visit, a simple walk can become a romantic stroll.

Tamsui

Pronounced Dan Shui (shway) this MRT station is at the very top of the red line.Once there, you can rent bicycles and go down the boardwalk, or if riding isn’t your thing, then you can slowly walk along the river sampling local delicacies from vendors. This area is called Tamsui old street and waterfront. From here you can take a ferry to Bali and enter the Formosa Fun Coast amusement park (590 NTD per peson).

If that is a bit above the budget then head over to Fort San Domingo. Also known as Hongmao Castle, it was built by the Dutch in 1641 and offers a wonderful view of the Tamsui River.A must see is Fisherman’s Warf. You must catch a boat to get there, but the best time to go is around Sunset. This way you will be able to look at the sun dipping into the water as the wind whips about you.

Once there, you can take pictures on the bridge and at the LOVE statue before having a nice quiet meal. The highlight of the trip is the Lover’s Bridge which lights up colorfully at night. It is well worth the trip, especially for couples.
